Apart from giving certain players a renewed reason toto slot to survive (and raising questions about how, exactly, a newborn can compete in the Squid Game), the baby is a brilliant, devastating show of the trauma handed down from parent to child. As her fate is left up to a soulless system and desperate opponents, she brings a 21st-century disregard for children into alarming focus. Two Point Museum is a delightful, interactive addition to the Two Point Studios catalog, having built itself a niche for quirkiness and accessibility-focused management sim design. It takes players off on a trip into the bizarre realm of curating a museum, where more emphasis is placed on building experience and less on putting things on the ground. Rather, it’s an odyssey of the weird and the whimsical, a … Your House is an interactive, text-based mystery game that couples dynamic puzzles with vivid storytelling and delivers a video game experience pushing the limits of books and videogames alike.
The first Alter I make is Jan Technician, an alter with proficiency in base maintenance, technology, and tinkering. When he wakes up, he’s understandably confused, so I explain the situation to him. The conversation quickly turns tense as he realises he’s nothing more than a tool, a means for you, Jan Prime, to survive – and he’s right. Search through the timeline where Jan went to university and completed a PhD. Choose a timeline where Jan decided to follow his partner to another country and took up gardening. You can essentially craft the perfect crew, who all have a wide range of skills for you to utilize.
I stopped approaching games as products to be evaluated on a checklist and began focusing on how effectively they communicated something to me. It’s how I found myself loving Pikmin 4, a game that practices what it preaches about the joys of organization by turning Pikmin’s classically chaotic strategy gameplay into something tidy and streamlined. It’s why I lambasted The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered’s roguelike mode, an addition that I felt spat in the face of the base game’s mediation on cyclical violence. It’s why Despelote is one of my favorite games of 2025, towering above glitzy games 1000 times its size. I don’t just want games to distract me; I want them to speak to me.
It’s unclear if this means that the project is both a game and a movie, or a game that is like a movie. Death Stranding was the first full game I ever reviewed for Digital Trends. I’ve learned to embrace friction as a communication tool, something I wish I was more open to when initially reviewing Death Stranding in 2019. After all, the slapstick comedy routine that comes from trying to navigate uneven terrain makes the moments where the community bands together to build a road that much more meaningful. While a job like this can often leave writers entirely burnt out on games, I find myself more in love with the medium with each passing year. This trio of games centers on base building and resource gathering as a top priority for survival, but the best thing about these games is that you never lose sight of what’s important – the people.

Rematch is easy to understand, but it’s incredibly hard to master, and I felt like I was learning something every match I played. Like the sport it’s based on, it’s about positioning, stamping management (you can’t sprint or do tricks without it), and communicating with your team. A good team will absolutely roll a bad one, but a mediocre team that coordinates will probably beat a team of good players who never pass the ball. At first, I wasn’t a great shooter; my skills were based around being an above-average goalie and passing the ball and positioning myself well, setting up my teammates for success. But when shooting finally clicked, I ended the first game I ever scored in with four goals.
With lots of possibilities for all the Jans and rarely any definitively correct choice of action, this anxiety-filled adventure is always one of my own making. Whatever the latest chaos, there’s always something specific to aim for, even if the what and how to go about it evolves as time goes on. The unique and always deadly areas each chapter takes place in are handcrafted and relatively compact, rather than auto-generated nothings for me to grab 20 of one thing and 30 of another in before rolling the base off somewhere else. There are blockages to blast away with lasers, prime mining spots to uncover, cargo drops to retrieve, shortcuts to discover and mysterious phenomena to research—if I dare to spend a little time on them, that is.
Even an excellent shooter will need help against a team playing good defense. If Rematch has an obvious weakness, it’s that you have to play it with other people. I got called a slur in the first game I ever played for making a minor mistake that didn’t even end up costing us a goal. The game quickly settles into the min-maxing groove typical of survival games.
February 14, 2024 • The new remake of Mario vs. Donkey Kong delivers ace animation and a welcome “casual mode,” but its two-player co-op can be more frustrating than fun. October 15, 2024 • ‘Jamboree’ feels scattered and altogether too eager to please. But while the game’s a mixed bag, it’s still one of the best in the chaotic Nintendo series.
